PlayhouseSquare is the place to be September 10-12 as the schedule of events is expected to fill the neighborhood with bustling activity. The excitement happening at PlayhouseSquare is a unique concentration of events that collectively represent the not-for-profit organization's mission of serving the community by presenting world-class performing arts productions, fostering leading-edge education programs and spurring economic development by creating traffic-driving destination events.

The entire 2010-11 PlayhouseSquare season, including Broadway, dance, concerts, comedy and family shows, will go on sale to the public on September 10th  beginning at 11 a.m. Tickets may be purchased at The PlayhouseSquare Ticket Office (1519 Euclid Ave.), by phone at 216-241-6000 or online at www.playhousesquare.org.

The 11th annual PlayhouseSquare District Block Party & Tour is set for Friday, September 10, from 5:00-9:30 p.m., on Star Plaza, located at Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street. The event features the entertainment by Cats on Holiday and Zach, a walking tour of the neighborhood by the Take A Hike guides, signature dishes by PlayhouseSquare restaurants, A Taste of Excellence, Johnsonville and Shearer's, a cash bar and The PlayhouseSquare Cornhole Championship Game. Tickets are $25 each, and can be purchased online at www.playhousesquare.org or at The PlayhouseSquare Ticket Office.

The 8th Annual Dance Showcase at PlayhouseSquare features nine of Northeast Ohio's best professional dance companies (The Dancing Wheels Company, Dance/Theater Collective, Inlet Dance Theatre, MorrisonDance, Ohio Dance Theatre, Shri Kalaa Mandir, Travesty Dance Group, Verb Ballets and Sara Whale). There will also be a sneak peek dance performance from Elton John's new show Billy Elliot the Musical. The performance will be held at 7 p.m. on September 10th in the Palace Theatre and is free to the public.

Cesear's Forum will present Samuel Beckett's All That Fall in a limited September/October engagement in Kennedy's Down Under. Written as a radio play, the psychological and physical one-day journey of elderly Maddy Rooney, takes place in a radio studio environment, emphasizing the aural technical requirements of storytelling. The show runs from September 10 through October 16. All seats $15.

Her last three PlayhouseSquare appearances have been sellouts, and now Emmy Award-winning comedian Kathy Griffin is back for a one-night engagement on September 10...unplugged, uncensored and still unafraid to dish on any celebrity! Hot on the heels of Bravo's sixth season of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List" series (plus her new comedy special, "Kathy Griffin Does the Bible Belt"), Kathy's rapid fire wit and get-real comedic observations have landed her on the "A" List of hot contemporary comedians...maybe even the "Queen" of that list. Tickets are $10-$65.

Celebrating the literary artists in our region and their acclaimed work, The LIT, Cleveland's Literary Center, is delighted to present All LIT UP: An Evening of Literary Excellence! This event features the presentation of the first biennial Lantern Awards in eight different literary genre categories ranging from poetry and non-fiction to graphic novel and blog. Tickets purchased at $35 include the program and pre-event cocktail hour with a cash bar in the Palace Theatre. Tickets that are $50 provide additional access to the after-party at the Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative.

On Sunday, September 12, PlayhouseSquare's FAMILY FILM DAY will offer free screenings of Legally Blonde at 12 p.m., Billy Elliot at 3 p.m., Sing-A-Long West Side Story at 6 p.m. Parking in The PlayhouseSquare garage will be just $2 for the day and soda and popcorn will be available for $1 each.
