Cleveland Play House, Playhouse Square and CSU Announce $30 Million Project For New Theatre Complex

Cleveland Play House, in partnership with Cleveland State University and PlayhouseSquare, have announced a new initiative to move to a newly-renovated site in downtown Cleveland, trade paper Variety reports.

The project, a $30 million venture, includes plans to significantly renovate PlayhouseSquare's Allen Theater. The renovation would changing the theater from a 2,500-seat auditorium to two smaller theaters; a 550-seat theater, a 300-seat, and a third space that which would seat 175.

The three arts organizations would share occupancy of the new Allen Theater complex, and will jointly raise the funds for the ambitious project.
