The City of Cleveland Heights and Cain Park 2015 Theater Artistic Director Ian Hinz announce that GODSPELL will open Cain Park's 2015 season in the Alma Theater June 12-28 (preview June 11). Hinz and Joanna May Hunkins, associate director of The Musical Theater Project, will co-direct this family-friendly musical with music direction by Jordan Cooper and choreography by Katie Nabors Strong.

Close on the heels of GODSPELL's first Broadway revival in 2011-12, GODSPELL is being produced at Cain Park this summer for the first time in the Park's history. Led by the international hit, "Day By Day," GODSPELL (Book by John-Michael Tebelak, Conceived and Originally Directed by John-Michael Tebelak, Music and New Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz) features a parade of beloved songs including "Prepare Ye The Way of the Lord," "Learn Your Lessons Well," "All for the Best," "All Good Gifts," "Turn Back O Man," and "By My Side," plus a new "Opening" and new additions "Tower of Babble" and "Beautiful City." The Wall Street Journal heralded the Broadway revival of GODSPELL as a "family-friendly show that deserves to run forever." It has been described as a masterful retelling of the original sensation, injected with contemporary references and dazzling new arrangements.

GODSPELL marked the theatrical arrival of three-time Grammy/Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden). It originally ran for more than 2,600 performances in New York and spawned successful touring productions in major U.S. cities, a 1973 motion picture adaptation and countless international engagements for the past 40 years.

Auditions will take place February 27-28 at the Cleveland Heights Community Center (1 Monticello Boulevard at Mayfield). Callbacks are scheduled for Sunday, March 1. Cain Park is seeking a non-traditional, multicultural, multigenerational cast. All roles are open and audition details will follow.

Cain Park, a municipally owned and operated summer performing arts park and one of the nation's oldest landmark outdoors entering its 77th season, is produced by the City of Cleveland Heights and is located on Superior Road between Lee and South Taylor roads.
