Technical Director - Milburn Stone Theatre

The Milburn Stone Theatre at Cecil College, in North East, MD seeks a Technical Director, a full-time salary, exempt position.(approx. 1 hour away from Philadelphia and 50 minutes from Baltimore)General Duties: The Technical Director has the responsibility for the technical operations of the theatre, including lighting, sound, set design, construction coordination, and necessary maintenance. Milburn Stone Theatre produces 8-10 musicals, plays and/or concerts annually in house, as well as hosts 8+ rentals throughout the year, and hosts several college events throughout the academic year. The Technical Director reports to the General Manager.Responsibilities:Operates, maintains and safeguards the technical assets of the theatre, including supervising the use of lighting, sound, communications equipment and the use and maintenance of stage facilities.In collaboration with the Artistic Director & Production Manager contracts Artistic Staff & Crew as needed for each production, including rentals if not already provided by rental companies.In collaboration with the General Manager & Artistic Director, asses the needs for each rental company, as well as helps coordinate the schedule for when they are in the facilityAsses supply needs and completes purchases in collaboration with the General ManagerAdvises the lighting, sound, and/or set designers on the technical specifications, usage of technical equipment required for the individual show. Reviews, approves, and implements final designs.Supervises the Assistant Technical Director and Production Assistants, including scheduling, training, evaluating, delegates daily tasks to complete set and stage construction in a timely manner.In collaboration with the Production Manager hires Crew for each production.Assists in training, scheduling and assignment of technical crew for individual shows. During tech week and performances, supervises the crew members as well.Orients artistic staff including rentals and volunteers to safety, technical characteristics and other areas of facility operations.Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; arrange for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; facilitates preventative maintenance on equipment.Maintains inventory on all equipment and supplies.Attends tech week rehearsals in order to supervise and assist in the technical aspects of mounting the show.
