The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park' s Rosenthal Next Generation Theatre Series kicks off this January with an award-winning and Playhouse favorite storyteller and a family concert.

On January 22, LuAnn Adams, recipient of the Parents' Choice Foundation Gold Award and NAPPA Gold award, will return to the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park for her 19th year with WHY THE SKY IS FAR AWAY & OTHER WONDERFUL TALES TO CELEBRATE THE EARTH. Featuring Native American folklore and tales from the Rain Forest, these multi-cultural stories celebrate the relationship between people, animals and the amazing world we share. Adams' infectious joy and ability to adjust each show to the children present captivates everyone in the audience - no matter their age.

On January 29, two-time Grammy Award-winning artist Bill Harley will use songs and stories in his family concert to paint a vibrant and hilarious picture of growing up. Joyous, honest and slightly off-center, Harley's world of wit and wisdom spans the generation gap. He is recipient of the Magic Penny Award from the Children's Music Network and a number of Parents' Choice Foundation Gold Awards. According to Los Angeles Times, "Harley's audiences are families but it's hard to tell who enjoys him more - parents or children."

All shows take place at 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. in The Playhouse's Rosenthal Plaza. All performances are for ages 4 and up. Made possible by the Lois and Richard Rosenthal Foundation, the Rosenthal Next Generation Theatre Series involves youngsters in the excitement of theatre. All afternoon performances are signed for the hearing impaired courtesy of the Cincinnati State Interpreter Training Program.

Tickets are $5 for theatregoers ages 4 to 18 and $6 for adults through The Playhouse box office at 513/421-3888 (toll-free in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana at 800/582-3208) or online at www.cincyplay.com. Parking is free. The Playhouse is fully accessible. Audio enhancement receivers, large print programs and complete wheelchair access are available. The Playhouse is supported, in part, by the generosity of the tens of thousands of individuals and businesses that give to ArtsWave.

The Ohio Arts Council helps fund The Playhouse with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. The Playhouse also receives funding from the Shubert Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
