DRUMLINE LIVE Plays Aronoff Center for the Arts 11/30

By: Oct. 19, 2010

DRUMLINE LIVE - the show-stopping musical spectacular that sold-out the Aronoff Center in March of 2009 - marches back onto the stage of the Aronoff Center's Procter & Gamble Hall on Tuesday, November 30 at 8:00 PM as part of the Cincinnati Arts Association's 2010-11 "Let's Play" Season.

Tickets are now on sale at www.CincinnatiArts.ORG , (513) 621-ARTS [2787], or the Aronoff Center Ticket Office. Group discounts are available by calling (513) 977-4157.

DRUMLINE LIVE kicks off its second U.S. tour this season, following its extremely successful 70-performance international tour in the 2008-2009 season. The popular family-friendly entertainment features a 39-member cast of high-energy performers in the show-style marching band tradition of America's top Historically Black Colleges and Universities. DRUMLINE LIVE's cast members have honed their precision and energy with years of training in marching band programs across the southern United States.

This versatile group of musicians, dancers, and vocalists brings an explosive energy and athleticism to an eclectic mix of sounds. Equally at home with the hottest contemporary Hip Hop, R&B, classic Motown tunes, and the rousing sounds of the great brass tradition, DRUMLINE LIVE is thrilled to share the American Marching Band experience with a wider audience.

The stirring sound of trumpets, talented vocalists, explosive choreography, and incredible feats of athleticism from the "steppers" and dancers bring audiences to their feet; but the stars of the show are unquestionably the talented group of African American percussionists who form the "drumline." The showdown of rhythm and speed between the "lines" will amaze audiences with its pulsing force.

DRUMLINE LIVE's thrilling and upbeat program includes the sounds of Africa, Motown, Gospel, Swing, and Hip Hop; a tribute to the iconic halftime extravaganza made famous by HBCU bands from across America; a "Thriller" highlight reel from the King of Pop, featuring choreographed renditions of "Smooth Criminal" and "Billie Jean," and of course, the ultimate Drumline battle, where the audience decides the champion.

A glimpse into an American experience that many have never seen before, this historic tradition is alive with intensity!
