Chicago City Opera presents a Mozart double feature combining two one-act operas, The Impresario and Bastien and Bastienne, into an overarching farce in the vein of Noises Off and The Play That Goes Wrong. Baritone turned director Oscar Buff starts his own opera company to stage Bastien and Bastienne, but faces a shortage of tenors and increasing onstage chaos on opening night. Conducted by CCO Artistic Director Alexandra Enyart with stage direction by Alannah Spencer, the cast includes tenor Matthew Peckham, soprano Valerie Beck, soprano Tracey Furling, and baritone Ian Murrell, with pianist Jordan Crice as the orchestra. Performed in English, the show runs 75 minutes with no intermission.
