Clark Week Productions is proud to present The Angels of Lemnos by Jim Henry for a very special 30th anniversary revival with a portion of proceeds benefitting Deborah’s Place women’s shelter.
Hailed in reviews as “emotionally uplifting,” The Angels of Lemnos won two Jeff awards in Chicago when the play premiered at Chicago Dramatists (including best new works in 1999) and the LA Times Critics Choice Award after a five month run in Hollywood.
Lemnos follows Nathan Spandrel, an unhoused man with a brain injury and an intellectual disability who copes with a traumatic past by believing he can become an angel.
And today he’s found something very special, “his gift from god:” it’s a little baby boy. And he’s still alive.
The Angles of Lemnos is one of the most beautiful and underrated plays to come out of the mid 90s. CWP is honored to bring the production to life again in these tumultuous times when perhaps it’s message is needed the most.
With Phil Aman as Nathan Spandrel, Stephen Eugene Walker as Gertie and featuring Kyle T. Burch, Karyn Louise Doerfler, Mara Currens, Betsy Pennington-Taylor and James Banta in multiple ensemble roles.
Featuring understudies Sterling Sibley on 2/19, Kate Yee on 2/15 and Tara Shilkret on 2/21.
Join us for a talk back with the playwright and dramaturg after the show on Friday, 2/20.
Directed by Clint Clark.
Lightning Design by Emmit Socey.
Set design by Schyler.
“In the darkest of times, art is not an indulgence or an ego trip, but a mark of our deepest humanity. It is essential.”
