The Evanston Dance Ensemble (EDE) opens its 22nd season with a suite of three pieces, Moving On, which explore the theme of transition. The classical ballet "Graduation Ball" is set in the 1840’s, adventures and romance ensue when cadets from a nearby military academy are invited to the senior celebration at an all-girls school, choreographed by Laura Schwenk Berman. The comedic Headmistress will be danced by EDE Co-Artistic Director Béa Rashid. Next, "…my breath away…" choregraphed by A. Raheim White from Lucky Plush Productions is a modern dance piece that tackles loss, death and healing. Then EDE Co-Artistic Director Christina Ernst stages a highly-energized selection from EDE’s 'Space Odyssey' – "Neptune" - to original music by Steve Rashid inspired by the planet’s incredibly volatile and ever-changing surface environment.
