Williams Street Repertory (WSR), winner of four 2013 BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards, continues its 2014/2015 Season with comedy: Jane Wagner's The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, made famous by the hilarious Lily Tomlin when it first took to stage in 1985. The Search for Signs... opens tonight, September 12 at 8:00 pm, and runs for select dates and times through September 21 at Raue Center For The Arts in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Trudy, a bag lady who has perhaps dipped a toe beyond the edge of madness, explores and reveals her headspace on stage. This one-woman show is the tale of a woman who has embraced her own insanity, in order to help you find a new freedom of thought that is just a stone's throw beyond the edge of reality.

And although it may be called (and rightfully so) a one-woman show, the frightfully dramatic acrobatics of personae generated by WSR's very own Amanda Flahive on stage will make you feel as though you're watching an ensemble piece: complete with a jaw-droppingly long list of cast members (all portrayed by one woman), a complete choreographed and action-packed stage presence, and a story that will take you beyond the stage and theatre into a world full of wonder and imagination.

"Though it's a one-woman show, in some ways SEARCH is an "ensemble" piece too, because I play about a dozen characters over the course of the play--several of whom are interacting with each other," says Amanda, "It's a balancing act to keep them all unique, and to create those moments of truthful interactions without another actor standing in front of me. On top of that, there's a great, funny, moving story here about connection, intertwining destinies, and above all what it means to be human."

In terms of a one-woman show, The Search for Signs transforms the stage into a poignant device, particular in the way it portrays Trudy's journey, mentally, physically and emotionally. The audience will see one actress defy the ideas of time and space in order to entertain and captivate.

Tickets start at $35.50 and group pricing is available! Tickets can be purchased online at WWW.WSREP.ORG, WWW.RAUECENTER.ORG or via the Box Office at 815.356.9212 or 26 N. Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.
