Chicago's WTTW Airs Alfie Boe Special 3/20; Airs Nationwide in June

WTTW11, America's most watched public television station, will be the first U.S. PBS affiliate to air the new 90-minute music special Alfie Boe: LIVE FROM THE ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL, LONDON on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 8:00 pm CDT. Filmed during Boe's sold out tour, the much-loved tenor and recent star of the acclaimed 25th anniversary production of Les Miserables showcases his voice in his own show.

Boe performs a diverse collection of material, including "Maria" from West Side Story, Ewan MacColl's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face," "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables, and Martina McBride's "In My Daughter's Eyes." Also included are songs by Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Rodgers and Hammerstein, plus a medley of James Bond themes and tunes from the films Moulin Rouge, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and much more.

The special will air throughout the rest of the country on public television stations starting in June (check local listings).

Alfie Boe grew up in Fleetwood, Lancashire. After many years of opera training, initially singing with the D'Oyly Carte and then studying at such prestigious institutions as the Royal College Of Music, The National Opera Studio and the Royal Opera House, Boe headed to New York City to play the lead in Baz Luhrmann's production of La Bohème on Broadway, where he won a Tony for his performance. Later, he traveled all over America singing musical theatre songs on the Boston Pops tour. Boe's two Decca albums Bring Him Home and Alfie have sold, combined, nearly three quarters of a million copies to date. He is currently at work on his autobiography.
