Hot on the heels of Blackbird, Victory Gardens Theater's biggest box office hit in 36 years, Chicago's #1 producer of new plays will host two Season Preview events - Wednesday, September 9 at 6 pm, and Saturday, September 12 at 11 am - to give prospective new subscribers a chance to sample Victory Gardens' 2009-2010 season line-up.

Top Chicago actors will perform scenes from the season in a staged reading format at both events, followed by mingling with the artists and staff at a post-preview reception.

Highlighting the September 9th Season Preview, Lincoln Park Massage Spa, a partner in Victory Gardens' popular Lincoln Park Neighbors Night subscription series, is sending its top massage therapists to give free chair massages to anybody who subscribes that night.

Parents with kids four through 12 are encouraged to attend the September 12th late morning event. Adults can relax and watch the preview, while Victory Gardens' education staff keeps kids entertained with Sitter Saturday games and crafts.

Special deals on five-, six- and seven-play subscriptions to Victory Gardens' 2009-10 season will be on sale at both Season Previews, starting at only $80. Flex plans, value added series and Generation VGT subscriptions - five plays for only $80 for anyone 30 and under - will also be offered. Admission to Season Previews is complimentary. However, space is limited and reservations are recommended. To reserve, email events@victorygardens.org or call 773.549.5788 x 2167.

For more information on tickets and subscriptions, call the Victory Gardens box office - 773.871.3000 - or visit victorygardens.org. The Victory Gardens Biograph Theater is located at 2433 N. Lincoln Avenue, in the heart of Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.

To recap, Victory Gardens' 2009-2010 season launches with one of the company's most daring new play development projects ever - the next phase of its Ignition Festival - which boasts overlapping performances of two world premieres by young writers of increasing national prominence.

Year Zero by Michael Golamco, about a Cambodian family in modern-day California, is the debut production in Victory Gardens' new, 120-seat 2nd floor Studio Theater (September 11-October 18, 2009). Downstairs in the Victory Gardens Biograph Theater mainstage, The Elaborate Entrance of Chad Deity, Kristoffer Diaz' smart, comic look at pro wrestling, geopolitics, and refrigerator crispers, presented in association with Teatro Vista, is a theatrical smack down of dazzling hip hop language (September 25-November 11, 2009).

After the Ignition plays, Victory Gardens' smash hit holiday musical The Snow Queen, originally adapted by Michael Smith, Frank Galati and Blair Thomas, directed this year by Jim Corti, returns for her fourth season (November 27-December 27, 2009). 2010 will be ushered in with the Chicago premiere of Blue Door, a Pulitzer-Prize nominated journey through four generations of black history, by award-winning playwright and actor Tanya Barfield (January 22-February 28, 2010).

Next come three new works from Victory Gardens' own Playwrights Ensemble: the Chicago premiere of Lonnie Carter's acclaimed play The Lost Boys of Sudan (March 19-April 25, 2010), James Sherman's world premiere farce Jacob and Jack (May 14-June 20, 2010), and finally, the debut of A Guide for the Perplexed by Joel Drake Johnson, author of Victory Gardens' 2007 smash hit Four Places (July 9-August 15, 2010). Adding star power to Victory Gardens' season, A Guide for the Perplexed will boast the return to a Chicago stage of acclaimed actor Kevin Anderson, opposite fellow Steppenwolf ensemble member Francis Guinan.

Convenient parking, easy ticket exchanges, exclusive invitations to special events, a free subscription to Victory Magazine, and plenty of pre- and post-show deals at area bars and restaurants are always part of the Victory Gardens subscription package.
