Tuta Theatre's MUSIC HALL Begins 2/5 at The Den Theatre

By:

TUTA Theatre Chicago has announce complete casting for the US premiere of MUSIC HALL, by Jean-Luc Lagarce, directed by Founding Artistic Director Zeljko Djukic (Brecht's The Wedding, Chekhov's Uncle Vanya), and featuring Jeffrey Binder (Broadway's The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Lion King, Side Man).

Following the run at Chicago's The Den Theatre, the production will make an Off-Broadway transfer to 59e59 Theaters in NYC, running from March 26 - April 12, 2015.

MUSIC HALL will feature Jeffrey Binder (Broadway's The Lieutenant of Inishmore, The Lion King, Side Man), Michael Doonan (Chicago Shakespeare, Moscow Art Theatre) and Darren Hill (Steppenwolf, Remy Bumppo, Steep), under the direction of Founding Artistic Director Zeljko Djukic. Design and technical collaborators include music direction by Wain Parham; movement direction by Aileen McGroddy; music consultation by Josh Schmidt (Adding Machine, A Minister's Wife) set and costume design by Natasha Djukic, lighting design by Keith Parham; sound design by Christian Gero; prop design by Leticia Guillard.

MUSIC HALL begins performances at Chicago's The Den Theatre (1333 N. Milwaukee) on Thursday, February 5, and closes on Sunday, March 8.

Produced by TUTA Theatre Chicago, MUSIC HALL is a US premiere play by acclaimed French writer Jean-Luc Lagarce. A funny and deeply moving story of three fading cabaret performers who act, sing, and dance every night, MUSIC HALL explores the vulnerability of the life of a theater artist and what it takes to endure it year after year. With the Chicago and New York premieres of MUSIC HALL, TUTA remains true to their trademark style of infusing musicality into the heart of the work.

In recent years, French writer Jean-Luc Lagarce has risen from obscurity to become one of the most widely produced playwrights in all of Europe. Director Djukic returns to Lagarce at TUTA, after previously directing two critically acclaimed US premieres of Rules for Good Manners in the Modern World (Chicago & NYC) and It's Only The End of The World (Chicago). Djukic and Binder reunite after a highly successful collaboration of the Kovacevic's Radovan III at The Next Stage.
