Get ready! A special one-day-only online and box office "fire sale" for tickets to "Spinning Into Butter," "Peribanez" and "Danceworks 2011" will take place Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the Theatre and Interpretation Center (TIC) at Northwestern University.

For 24-hours, tickets to these three shows will be priced at only $1 each for students with valid IDs and $10 for all others, reflecting a 90 percent savings for students and up to a 50 percent savings for the general public, as well as Northwestern faculty and staff and seniors.

The reduced-priced tickets will be available for purchase online at www.tic.northwestern.edu with the promotional codes FIRE for students, and TEN for the general public. The online sale will start at 12:01 a.m. and end at 11:59 p.m.

The TIC Box Office also will be selling tickets with the same promotional codes, FIRE and TEN. The box office is located on the Arts Circle in the Ethel M. Barber Theatre Lobby, 30 Arts Circle Drive, Evanston campus. The box office will remain open from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 18.

"These three winter shows are so great and such a diverse selection that we want to make them available to everyone on campus and in the broader Chicago, Evanston and North Shore community," said TIC artistic director Henry Godinez.

In addition, beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, TIC will be offering an open rehearsal of "Peribanez," featuring a brief presentation by Godinez at 7 p.m. about the history of the production and the playwright. This event will be held in the Barber Theater. It is free and open to the public. Reservations are not required.

The three winter stage productions include:

"Spinning Into Butter", which runs from Jan. 28 to Feb. 6, at the Josephine Louis Theater, and follows a saga of racially motivated vandalism at a quiet New England college. It falls to Sarah Daniels, dean of students, to resolve this unprecedented situation or, perhaps, just to quiet the hype. Directed by Derrick Sanders, artistic director, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), this thought-provoking play by award-winning School of Communication faculty member Rebecca Gilman, asks whether values are absolute or subject to circumstance.

Directed by award-winning TIC artistic director Henry Godinez, "Peribanez" runs from Feb. 11 through 20 at the Barber Theater. One of the most important playwrights and poets of the Spanish Golden Age, Lope De Vega creates in "Peribanez" a romantic tale of desire, honor, obsession and revenge. Newlyweds Pedro and Casilda have found perfect bliss -- until fate intervenes, bringing into their lives a jealous Commander determined to take the bride for himself. Translated by Tanya Ronder, "Peribanez" is a daring classic that explores what a man will do for the love of a woman.

"Danceworks 2011" has a new artistic director this year award-winning Northwestern faculty member Annie Beserra. Performances will be held from Feb. 25 through March 6, at the Louis Theater. Featuring original works by Northwestern's acclaimed faculty choreographers and performances by up-and-coming student dancers, "Danceworks 2011" is a celebration of Jump Rhythm Jazz, modern and contemporary forms.

"It's important to us that theatre is accessible to all students and members of our community, which is why we have this special reduced-price ticket sale," said Diane Claussen, TIC managing director.
