Theatre-Hikes to Present YOU'RE A GOOD MAN, CHARLIE BROWN, Begin. 7/26
Theatre-Hikes - Chicago, a nonprofit organization focused on combining fitness with live theater in a outdoor setting is proud to announce the presentation of the musical You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. At Theatre-Hikes, our patrons participate in a leisurely walk, in wooded areas and nature preserves in and around Chicago, while watching local talent perform famous and locally written plays. The "progressive play" style is the hallmark of the Theatre-Hikes experience.
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown follows aspects of a typical day in the life of a blockhead. Based on the Peanuts Comics, this musical takes us through songs about writing a book report, flying a kite, playing baseball and celebrating Beethoven's Birthday interspersed with vignettes. The cast is headed up by Cullen Rogers as Charlie Brown. He was recently seen on the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre stage in Gypsy and previously as Curly at Summer Place Theater in Naperville. Fleshing out the cast are the equally talented Kristen McGuire (Sally Brown), Marissa Druzbanski (Lucy Van Pelt), Brett Taylor (Linus Van Pelt), Tyler Sonkin (Schroeder), and Nicholas Druzbanski (Snoopy).
Our first musical since 2009, this production is unique for Theatre-Hikes. Theatre-Hikes is always a great introduction to theatre for young children, for a variety of reasons, partly because Theatre-Hikes performs outdoors, not tied to a chair indoors. This production will be stationary with the hikes taking place before the show and during intermission. For lovers of indoor theatre, this is an introduction to our combination of light exercise, the beauty of nature and entertainment in a 2 act format that is familiar.
