The Revival, Hyde Park's comedy theater, announces its lineup of shows and events playing in May 2017. Inspired by the legacy of the Compass Players, The Revival brings improvisational comedy back to the same corner where it was invented in 1955! Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.the-revival.com. The Revival is located at 1160 E. 55th St. in Hyde Park.

The Hutchins Plan (Law School Edition)

Longform Improv featuring Randy Picker & Lior Strahilevitz

The Hutchins Plan is named for early twentieth century University of Chicago President RoBert Maynard Hutchins. Featuring "Special Guests" from across the College, the performance begins with an extemporaneous monologue that inspires a series of interconnected scenes. Join host Prof. Randal Picker, Special Guest Prof. Lior Strahilevitz and The Hutchins Plan Ensemble for an evening of classic long-form improvisation.

Word Play - a Dave Jeff Joint - is the sound of real hip hop mixed with the hottest new stand ups from across the country and topped with the consciousness of the best spoken word artists on the planet. Word Play harnesses the power of words from different aspects of our culture to incite laughter, cheers and tears. Curated by cultural architect Dave Jeff of PHLI; hosted by acclaimed personality Leon Rogers (WGCI); and featuring Guest DJs and Artists for a PHLI game of words!

Queer Variety Show

SPACE is a queer variety show hosted by stand up comedians Carly Ballerini and Shannon Noll. Featuring the best performers in Chicago who happen to be LGBTQIA identified. The performance is rooted in stand up, with featured acts including dance, music, drag, storytelling, and more! Space seeks to create a place for performers and audience alike to celebrate their identity and art. This month, check out Chelsea Norment & Kenzie Siebert (Drag), Dina Nina Martinez & KP (Stand Up), Clare Austen-Smith (Storytelling), Boys vs. Girls (Music) and Allison Reese (Comedic Songs).

The Revival is a new comedy venue in Hyde Park dedicated to reflecting the diversity of Chicago's South Side on stage.
