The Mill Returns to Chicago with THE YELLOW WALLPAPER
By: Courtnie Mele
We're back!
The Mill returns to Chicago after 5 years with a new adaptation of the classic short story The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman!
Previews begin August 23 at The Chopin. The Yellow Wallpaper, the semi-autobiographical, classic American short story written in 1892, describes the experience of a woman subjected to the "rest treatment," the contemporary "cure" for yet to be diagnosed-- postpartum depression. She is isolated, forbidden from reading or writing, and forced into stillness. Overwhelmed with loneliness and boredom, her obsession with the wallpaper that lines her oppressive walls leads her mind down a dark path as she drifts further from reality. We need your help.
