The Inconvenience Changes Venues for Mid-West Premiere of LOVE TAPES; Opens 5/30

By:

The Inconvenience would like to announce a change of venue for their Mid-West premiere production of Love Tapes by Penn Jillette and Steven Banks. Slated to open May 30th, 2014, and directed by Shade Murray, Love Tapes will co-star Inconvenience company members Chris Chmelik and Mary Williamson. Love Tapes will be now be presented at Angel Island, home of Mary-Arrchie Theatre Company.

An unconventional love story set in Minneapolis and Los Angeles at the close of the 20th century, Love Tapes tells the story of Melinda, an x-ray technician completely obsessed with Kevin, the lead guitarist of the 80's hair metal super-group Umlaut.

Declaring her love through a home video recording, Melinda pours her soul into the camera, sending off the tape to Kevin in hopes of capturing his heart. The result is a surprising journey in discovering love where you least expect it; with champagne, magic tricks, hula-hoops, and straight up rock and roll along the way!

Love Tapes features original music by Rick Sims, lyrics by Penn Jillette and Steven Banks, and additional lyrics by Rick Sims.

The Inconvenience is a community of interdisciplinary artists who seek to create a new way of experiencing art through a collaboration of music, theatre, dance, fine art and celebration.

They create, produce and curate works that challenge audience and artist perspective and ignite social dialogue.

The Inconvenience began in 2008 with eight friends in a loft and has now grown to fourteen members producing and creating events around Chicagoland. A multidisciplinary company that seeks to cross-pollinate the arts in innovative and exciting ways, our structure functions in four departments that are deeply collaborative: Dance, Art, Music and Theater.

The Inconvenience produces works that challenge perspective and ignite social dialogue by creating and curating, and they are proud of their commitment to collaboration. In their 4 year existence they have produced over 30 events, collaborated with over 500 artists, and presented to an annual audience of over 20,000 people.
