Written in 1942, Wilder's rarely-produced script is an ageless and wildly inventive portrayal of the human condition. Through the lives of the Antrobus family and their maid Sabina, Wilder traces the progression of the human race as it teeters repeatedly on the brink of disaster, shivering through the ice age, taking cover at the onset of the great flood and fumbling toward forgiveness in the dark aftermath of war. Wilder's imaginative, comedic and ultimately hopeful romp lovingly shows us the cyclical nature of existence, celebrating humanity's resilience, inventiveness and our will to survive. In presenting this rarely seen classic, the Artistic Home continues its tradition of presenting fresh and emotionally charged takes on often-forgotten works.

The Skin of Our Teeth will feature ensemble members Eustace Allen, Luis Crespo, Nick Horst, Katherine Litwin, John Mossman, Kathy Scambiatterra, Maria Stephens and Matt Welton, as well as Stacie Dublin, Helen Young and Grace Goble. Lighting design by Julian Pike; costume design by Alyson Greaves; sound design by Mikhail Fiskel and Miles Polaski; properties design by Gretel Ulyshen. Stage Manager will be Jessica Hamilton and Assistant Stage Manager will be Matt Ciavarella.
The Artistic Home
The Artistic Home is an Equity theatre company noted for its innovative and intimate presentations of rarely-produced classics. lso received an After Dark award for Direction) as well as the Jeff-Recommended Look Homeward Angel, Modigliani, The Madwoman of Chaillot, Unchanging Love, The Miss Firecracker Contest, and Street Scene which also received an After Dark Award for Ensemble. Other acclaimed Artistic Home productions include Days to Come, The Petrified Forest, Angel City, Orpheus Descending, In the Boom Boom Room and Three by Synge. For over ten years, The Artistic Home has consistently produced compelling theatre on the north side of Chicago. Starting as an ensemble of thirteen actors, the company has evolved into a group of thirty actors, directors and artistic associates, collaborating to bring timeless stories of human emotion to the Chicago community. First formed in 1998 with the belief that the actor is at the heart of great theater, the company strives to give birth to unforgettable moments; to touch audiences who are increasingly distanced from human contact; to readdress the classics, and to explore new works with passion.
