The Annoyance Theatre Presents WIZARD QUEST, Opening 5/3

By:

"Wizard Quest", a new musical adventure based on popular fantasy role-playing board games, previews Friday, April 26 and opens May 3 at the Annoyance Theatre, 4830 N. Broadway, Chicago.

Directed by Kellen Terrett, with original music and musical direction by Lisa McQueen, the gripping and witty action occurs during one ominous night at Skeech's Comics. Taking part are an oddball mix, including community college students, the owner of Skeech's, a paralyzed former athlete, a failed Navy pilot, and a mysterious woman. As the tension-filled evening proceeds, The Players attempt to escape evil Zantar while a Quest Master serves as referee and storyteller.

Although The Players use avatars to act out their imaginary roles, their nonfictional problems and fears soon materialize to not only test their game skills, but also their power to overcome personal battles. Who will succeed or fail, the audience may wonder, or will The Players learn an important real-life lesson in teamwork?

Cast members of the show -- which was developed through improvisation, personal stories, and rounds of Dungeons & Dragons - are many Annoyance regulars including: Annie Donley, Mantas Dumcius, Tim Heurlin, Dan Hodos, TIM JOyce, Avery Lee, Drew Mellon, and Adam Schreck,

Terrett will be making his Annoyance directing debut with Wizard Quest; he has also appeared in the theatre's productions of: "Knot Prepared: A Boy Scout Musical," "Co-ed Prison Sluts," Splatter Theater," "The Final Balloon," and "It's Christmas Goddammit."

"Wizard Quest" previews April 26, opens May 3, and plays on Fridays through June 14, 2013, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20, $15 for students.
