THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY Begins 2/14 at Theatre at the Center

By:

Theatre at the Center's 2013 season tees off with the Chicago area premiere of the hilariously farcical THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY. The play will run February 14 through March 24 at 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, with a press performance Sunday, February 17 at 7 p.m. Written as a homage by Ken Ludwig (CRAZY FOR YOU, LEND ME A TENOR, MOON OVER BUFFALO) to the great English farces of the 1930s and 1940s, THE FOX ON THE FAIRWAY takes audiences on a sidesplitting romp which pulls the rug out from underneath the stuffy denizens of a private country club.

Filled with mistaken identities, high-stakes wagering, and over-the-top romantic shenanigans, it's a furiously paced comedy that recalls the Marx Brothers' classics. Renowned for his direction of farces, Theatre at the Center's Artistic Director William Pullinsi will take the helm of this play starring Lance Baker as "Bingham", Linda Gillum as "Pamela", Norm Boucher as "Dickie Bell", Michael Mahler as "Justin", Kate Bergeron as "Louise", and Laura Freeman as "Muriel".

Ludwig weaves the plot to revolve around a golf tournament and rival country clubs in the midst of their 43rd annual grudge match. When Bingham, the president of the Briar Ridge , has everything on the line in the big golf tournament, he suddenly finds himself short his best golfer and seems sure to lose. But the newly hired hand and hopelessly lovesick Justin comes to Briar Ridge's rescue.

That is, until Louise, Justin's main squeeze, loses her engagement ring. Justin's composure on the course quickly unravels. With injuries and lovesick golfers abounding, not to mention his wife, Bingham must find a way to outfox his rival, save the country club, and win the tournament.

Joining Director William Pullinsi is Scenic Designer Ann Davis, Lighting Designer Denise Karczewski, Sound Designer Barry G. Funderburg, Props Designer Lauren Earnshaw, Costume Designer Brenda Winstead and Wig Designer Kevin Barthel. The Stage Manager is Rebecca Green, the Production Manager/Technical Director is Ann Davis and TATC's General Manager is Richard Friedman.
