THE FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS Come to Raue Center, 4/21

Raue Center For The Arts is thrilled to welcome The Fabulous Thunderbirds to the stage this spring! Rock the Raue with the eclectic and powerful sound of this classic band known for barnburners like "Tuff Enuff" and "Wrap It Up" at 8 p.m. on April 21, 2018!

"The Fabulous Thunderbirds are one of the best rock and blues bands out there. From their humble start in Austin, they have always hit the stage with their own identity," says Raue Center Executive Director, Richard Kuranda. "They refuse to rest, they are always evolving and we can't wait to have them at Raue Center!"

For over 30 years, The Fabulous Thunderbirds have been the quintessential American band. The group released their self-titled album in 1979 and the primarily blues-influenced album went on to become a cult classic. In subsequent releases, the band started to incorporate more Cajun, rock-n-roll and soul influences, manifesting into a unique musical hybrid.

In 1986, The Fabulous Thunderbirds reached a commercial peak with the album "Tuff Enuff." The titular single as well as "Wrap It Up" and "Look At That" all reached the Top 40. "Tuff Enuff" was also featured in the film "Gung Ho" starring Michael Keaton.

Co-founder Kim Wilson, the sole original member of The Fabulous Thunderbirds, continues to spearhead the band as it evolves into its newest incarnation. In addition to Wilson on lead vocals and harmonica, the group's current lineup includes Jay Moeller on drums, Johnny Moeller and Mike Keller on guitar and Randy Bermudes on bass. The Fabulous Thunderbirds continue to create new music and tour extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe, releasing their most recent album, "Strong Like That," in 2016.

"We started as a straight blues band. We now incorporate a mixture of a lot of different styles," says Wilson of the current incarnation of The Fabulous Thunderbirds. "We're an American music band and we're much higher energy than we were before."

Tickets start at $27 and may be purchased online at rauecenter.org or via the Box Office at 815.356.9212 or 26 N. Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.
