StarKid Alums to Present New Comedy THE MOMS: FANNYPACKIN' HEAT at Chicago Dramatists Theatre, 12/5-29

By:

From the producing team responsible for the recent successful Kickstarter campaign Judas Redux and the successful Chicago run of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot comes The Moms: Fannypackin' Heat a new original comedy full of nonsense, nostalgia, and, well, moms. The Moms: Fannypackin' Heat will run for 15 performances only, at the Chicago Dramatists Theatre, 1105 West Chicago Avenue, December 5 - 29, 2013. The official press opening is scheduled for Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m.

Tickets, priced at $18 in advance and $20 at the door, will go on sale Saturday, October 12 at 12 pm at http://www.themomsplay.com/tickets. A small number of priority tickets, priced at $45, include early access, "awkward family photos" with the cast and creative team, and preferred seating. Select performances will also be broadcast via livestream. Additional details and specific dates TBA.

In a world where it's all for the kids, and fannypacks reign supreme, six parents duke it out to see who's got what it takes to rule the school district once and for all...or at least for the coming school year. In The Moms: Fannypackin' Heat friendships are challenged, patience is tested, and the Wine Coolers run dry. There's just one question: are you Mom enough?

Writers and performers Lauren Lopez (A Very Potter Musical, Starship The Last Days of Judas Iscariot) and Julia Albain (Starship, Holy Musical, B@man!) of previous StarKid notoriety bring a delightful new twist on motherhood to the Chicago stages. The Moms: Fannypackin' Heat follows a group of almost-normal suburban parents as they duke it out for the ultimate prize: the chance to be PTA President.

Corey Lubowich (SPACE Tour, Apocalyptour, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot) fills out the producing team and local actor and comedianDaniel Strauss (Second City, The Last Days of Judas Iscariot) takes the director's seat. The creative team also includes June Saito(Costumes), Sarah Petty (Lighting), and Nick Gage (Composer). Additional cast to be announced.

The Moms: Fannypackin' Heat will be presented at Chicago Dramatists Theatre, 1105 West Chicago Avenue, from December 5 to 29, 2013 (Press Opening: Saturday, December 8 at 2 pm).
