Following several past summer residencies at Andy's, the CJO returns once again for its annual summer engagement. If you have not had the pleasure of hearing Chicago's pre-eminent big band in a club setting, please join us for sets at 5:15 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Mondays throughout the summer months.

Vocalist Sarah Marie Young will perform with the CJO tonight, June 11th. Ms. Young is the winner of the 2011 First Place Prize in the Shure Montreux Jazz Voice Competition in Montreux, Switzerland. We're delighted to be presenting Ms. Young with the CJO.

The CJO's summer engagement continues every Monday through August. Andy's is located at 11 E. Hubbard (312)642- 6805, andysjazzclub.com. Discounted parking is available next door at Shaw's Crab House.

The CJO performs classic jazz repertoire, jazz standards, and songs from the Great American Songbook, as well as original compositions of some of the band members. Several singers will be featured with the band throughout these engagements. In addition to great music, Andy's offers a varied and delicious menu for those wishing to dine, as well as a well-rounded selection of wines, beers and spirits in a cozy, colorful and intimate setting. Jeff Lindberg's Chicago Jazz Orchestra was founded in 1978 (Jazz Members Big Band) by Jeff Lindberg and the late Steve Jensen. Composed of Chicago's top musicians, the CJO is Chicago's oldest professional jazz orchestra in continuous operation and one of the oldest jazz repertory orchestras in the country. Conductor and Artistic Director Jeff Lindberg is one of the foremost transcribers in jazz. As a result, the Orchestra's repertoire draws upon his vast library, which includes the works of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Benny Carter, Oliver Nelson, Ray Charles and many others.
The CJO receives support from The Stare Fund, the Illinois Arts Council, The Joseph B. Glossberg Foundation, The Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, The Oppenheimer Family Foundation, and The Arts Work Fund for Organizational Development. Media sponsorship is received from WDCB 90.9 FM.
