Crossing continents and centuries, Mnemonic's fragmented narrative takes in the discovery of Ötzi the iceman, a search for an absent father and the longing for a love lost in an exploration that questions our reliance on memory, the most subjective of storytellers. Through recurring images and situations the play draws parallels between these stories, focusing on the theme of the role of the imagination in recapturing the past.

Mnemonic opened in July 1999 at the Lawrence Batley Theatre Huddersfield and toured throughout Europe, receiving praise and The Critics' Circle Award for Best New Play. It was revived in 2001 where it toured to the National Theatre London as well as a successful run off-Broadway at the John Jay College Theater, receiving the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Achievement off Broadway for Unique Theatrical Experience.

About Theatre de Complicite: Complicite began in 1983 by a small group of actors influenced by the French mime artists, Jacques Lecog and Phillippe Gaulier. They decided to use their training in theatrical movement and to start a traveling "physical theatre" performance group. What makes Complicite extraordinary is their ability to balance between text, live performance, sound design, and visuals. Their use of all these elements, in combination with their unique movement-based performance style makes them a prime example of successful post-modern theatre and the voice of the new post-modern and technology-driven era. We live our lives in multiplicity and fragments, and Complicite has taken that and put it on stage to examine.

About the Director - Artistic Director, Brandon Ray, was formerly the inaugural Artistic Director of Chicago's New Leaf Theatre. While at New Leaf, he directed the Joseph Jefferson award-nominated productions of As It Is In Heaven and the US premiere of David Hare's The Permanent Way. Other Chicago directing credits include The Sovereign Statement for the Neo-Futurists, Reckless and Accelerando at New Leaf, Three Hymns of Apathy at the side project, With Every Wish at Petri Dish Theatre and Beatrice and Beau at Collaboraction's 9th Sketchbook festival.

About Red Tape Theatre: Now in its eleventh season, RTT is committed to the creation of new and experimental work. RTT's plays invite their audiences to re-imagine their world. RTT's work serves a vital purpose in our community: to arrest attention and create empathy. Their ensemble collaborates with playwrights, musicians, dancers, and visual artists on their three annual productions housed in St. Peter's Episcopal Church. The unique performance space allows them to continually reinvent the audience/artist relationship.

The complete cast and crew for Mnemonic will be announced soon!
