Pride Films and Plays Presents Ben Lerman, 'Rehabaret,' and More

The evening is hosted by Rehab, with PFP ensemble member Honey West as the emcee.

Armed with his wee ukulele, powerful voice, and twisted point of view, Ben gets huge laughs because his songs have real emotion behind them. From a pirate love story to a lullaby for crazy people, Ben's songs point to the humor in all of our lives and relationships, and in the world around us. His affable nature and playful wit have made his live show a perennial hit in Chicago, as Time Out Chicago raved, "Lerman's stage presence is his best asset."

Pride Films and Plays will be holding a cabaret fundraiser, "Rehabaret," hosted by Rehab, on Saturday, July 9 at 9 PM.

Rehab is at 3641 N. Halsted Street, Chicago, and the event is $5.

Ben Lerman, New York's very own ukulele superstar, is headlining, and the beautifully elegant Honey West will be our emcee and perform a song or two!

Others on the set list include Plucky Rosenthal's Banjo Vaudeville act! A semi-finalist for the Andy Kaufman Award, Chicago-based Plucky has produced her own variety shows at such venues as the Wilmette Theatre, the Upstairs Gallery, and the Whistler. She has performed with such companies as Redmoon Theatre, Chicago Physical Theatre, Beast Women, Girlie-Q Productions, and has performed at such venues as ComedySportz, the Neo-Futurarium, the Playground, Uncommon Ground, Mary's Attic, Town Hall Pub, and as the halftime act for the roller derby at the UIC Pavilion. Examiner.com says "She is the bee's knees, the cat's meow. An in the flesh re-incarnation of a Borscht Belt comedian. She charms the crowd with her great voice and ukulele-accompanied jokes." 

Michael Mejia performing 2 solo pieces and a special cover by Pink. Michael is so excited to be working with Pride Flims and Plays. Michael is a music/theatre student from Indiana University. Music has always been an inspiration to him since he was a little boy and he feels so blessed to be able to share his gift with the world.

Pat Christenson singing musical theater standards: "Mad About the Boy," "Ain't Misbehavin'," and a surprise number. This is Pat Christenson's Chicago cabaret debut, having recently returned to her Midwestern roots after 20 years in Chicago. She spends most of her time performing in musical theater, but loves singing the wonderful, sentimental, swinging songs of the pre-rock'n'roll 20th Century, so please help her build a time machine by hiring her to sing!

Comic Tiffany Puterbaugh in "About the Puterbaughs." They perform sketch scenes, spontaneously break into song, use props, and often dress in drag and wear moustaches during their performances. They are a staple on the Chicago comedy circuit and deliver the goods an average of three nights a week. The sisters can be found at well-known comedy venues, along with the occasional nursing home, fund raiser, and homeless shelter. Their goal is to bring laughs to as many people as possible, and until that happens they're gonna "Keep this tiger rolling," as they say. (-the comedians, America's Comedy Magazine) 

Mister Junior's Boylesque will provide some sensual fun. A southwestern siren, Mister Junior made his way from New Mexico to spice up the Windy City and has been a regular in the Chicago Burlesque scene since 2009. He teases and titillates with a special blend of whimsy and sass. Debuting on the national Burlesque circuit at the 2011 Windy City Burlesque Fest, Mister Junior can be seen throughout Chicago in monthly shows produced by Arkham Productions and Vaudezilla Productions, including Broadzilla the Burlesque Beast and Lincoln Fair: A Monthly Burlesque Expo.
Also on the bill is Chris Audain's uniquely campy rendition of "I Feel Like a Woman" by Shania Twain, and some special PFP surprises!
