Pride Films and Plays announces the second reading of THE FIFTH OF JULY for Sunday, May 16, at 7 pm at Theatre Building Chicago, 1225 West Belmont. THE FIFTH OF JULY, by Lanford Wilson, was penned a decade after BOYS IN THE BAND, and wonderfully integrates the complex issues of sexuality into a drama of a strong family and friends.

Kenneth Talley, Jr. is a gay Vietnam veteran living in his childhood home with his boyfriend, botanist Jed Jenkins. At the beginning of the play, he is due to soon return to his former high school to teach English. With a houseful of visiting eccentric family and friends, THE FIFTH OF JULY is an ensemble work of great humor and power, as Jed as his partner search for solid ground and their path for the future.

Patrick Walsh directs a cast featuring John Zinn Jonas Grey, Brian Rooney, Harmony France, Kieran Welsh-Phillips, Deanna Norman, Michele Gorman and Jeremy Cohn. The Celebrity Host for the evening is Misha Davenport of the Chicago Sun-Times.

For tickets call (773) 250-3112 or 1-800-838-3006 or on-line at Brown Paper Tickets.
