Photo Flash: New Look at SERIAL BLACK FACE at Actor's Express

Actor's Express continues its 2015-2016 season with the world premiere of Janine Nabers' SERIAL BLACK FACE, a gripping drama set against the backdrop of the Atlanta Child Murders of the late 1970s, running April 2-24. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

The play was named the winner of the 2014 Yale Drama Series by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Normanwho said of the playwright, "Janine Nabers is an extraordinary writer - powerful and funny and brave." Nabers is an alumna of the Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition. Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley will direct the world premiere.

Atlanta, 1979. The Atlanta Child Murders grip the entire city. Single mother Vivian copes with the disappearance of her young son while working tirelessly to give a fresh start to her troubled teenage daughter. When a handsome stranger enters her life with promises of new love, she soon learns that nothing is as it seems. This award-winning play by one of American's most promising young playwrights pulses to life with extraordinary grace and raw emotional power.

In the cast are Tinashe Kajese*, Imani Guy Duckette, Gilbert Glen Brown*, Drea Lewis*, Kelli Winans and Brian Hatch.

Also on the creative team are: Isabel & Moriah Curley-Clay - Scenic & Costume Designers; Rebecca M. K. Makus - Lighting Designer; Joel Abbott - Sound Designer; Kimberly Townsend - Properties Designer; Emma Palmer McVey - Stage Manager; Clifton Guterman - Assistant Director & National New Play Network Producer in Residence; and Sheila Oliver - Casting Director.

Performances of SERIAL BLACK FACE are Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 PM and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets start at $26 and may be purchased online at actors-express.com or by calling 404-607-7469.
