Photo Flash: Blank Theatre Company Stages BLACKBIRD By David Harrower
Blank Theatre Company presents their production of BLACKBIRD by David Harrower; the second production of their inaugural season.
Directed by Elyse Dolan, the production stars Betsy Bowman as Una and Jim Poole as Ray.
The production team includes Jos N. Banks (Costume Design), Jackie Bowes (Stage Management/Assistant Direction), Liz Cooper (Lighting Design), Jeremy Hollis (Scenic Design) Aaron Mann (Prop Design) and Zack Payne (Violence and Intimacy Design).
In BLACKBIRD, an adult man sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl fifteen years ago. Now, after serving his time in jail and starting to rebuild his life, she tracks him down, wanting answers. Guilt, rage, and raw emotions run high as they recollect their passionate relationship. Without any moral judgments, the play never shies away from the brutal truth of this abandoned and unconventional love. Nevertheless, the consequences are shattering. BLACKBIRD is a searing drama that challenges us to think about what kind of punishment could fit the worst crime imaginable.
