Performance Artist Tim Miller to Teach Master Class at Victory Gardens, 3/16-3/22

By:

Between performances of his newest piece Lay of the Land, Tim Miller will join a group of like-minded artists in an intensive week-long workshop exploring the creation of original personal performance. And you can be one of these artist! This is the rare opportunity to create your own performance piece with one of the masters of the form.

Tim will share a variety of strategies for mining the tremendous energies and stories in our lives and transforming them into theater. Using personal memories and myths as a jumping off point, participants will see how a deep sense of one's own history creates performances that jump out from the body onto the stage.

"Tim Miller has been at the heart of things, giving voice to what matters most, for the entirety of his career. His work is an extraordinary fusion of history, observation, politics, and a kind of shamanism." - Tony Kushner

"Tim's workshop challenges you to find the compelling story within, specifically your body. He helped me find the kernel of truth that I was searching for in order to create my next performance piece. His workshop is invaluable to any artist brave enough to look deeper within."
-Sean Ewert, Chicago performer and creator of Dramatic Twerp

The fierce creativity generated in the workshop will culminate in an ensemble-based public performance. Please bring your hearts and brains, your hopes and fears.
