The NFT Performing Arts Academy students are eager to spend their holiday break spicing up a classic Shakespeare drama in a 3-Day Acting Boot Camp at Pheasant Run Resort (4051 E. Main St., St. Charles, IL; admin telephone 630-443-0438).

The three-day workshop is open to all experience levels between the ages of 8 - 15 years old. Students will memorize lines and learn blocking from the classic play, but with a comedic twist. Participation will boost self-esteem and improve many skills including teamwork, creative thinking and communication. Classes will be held December 28 to December 30, 2009 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm daily with a free showcase on December 30 at 11:00 am. Instructor is NFT Education Manager and St. Charles resident Tracy Whiteside.

"This fun-filled three-day workshop is a great opportunity for those interested in exploring comedy. Since we all know the dramatic version of Romeo & Juliet, it will be fun to see just how creative our students can get with adding a comedic element to it," says Education Manager and Instructor Tracy Whiteside.

The NFT Performing Arts Academy will also be offering another 3-Day boot camp: Spamalot (G-rated). Classes will also be held December 28 to December 30, 2009 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm daily with a free showcase on December 30 at 3:00 pm.

These programs were specifically designed so that an aspiring actor could spend all three days immersed in theater by enrolling in both sessions. There will be adult supervision during the lunch hour for students enrolled in both camps.

The NFT Performing Arts Academy opened its doors to classes and youth productions for the community in the fall of 2006, including classes on improvisation, scene-study, and auditions, as well as the critic-acclaimed Youth Ensemble program. The academy features some of the Chicago area's most respected teachers, directors, actors and musicians.
