MOTHERHOOD Hosts 'Queen for the Day' Event Today, June 13
Motherhood the Musical® playing through June 16 at the Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted Street, is offering all moms the opportunity to be "Queen for the Day!" to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Official Birthday today, June 13. At the 7:30 p.m. performance, the first 100 moms will receive will receive a decadent bejewelEd Royal Red Velvet Cupcake from {cacao} sweets & treats. Also, two lucky moms will win a haircut and style, a makeup application and complimentary AVEDA lip color (total value of $120 each) from ASHA, an AVEDA lifestyle Salonspa.
The musical has been delighting audiences of all ages, from moms to grandmothers, as well as the men that love them. Called "a sweet comedy that is well worth the price of a babysitter and a box of tissues," by Chicago Parent and a "lovable night at the theater" by the Chicago Tribune, Motherhood the Musical® will make audiences laugh, cry and recognize themselves and their mothers on stage.
Motherhood the Musical® is produced by the Tony Award winning GFOUR Productions, the team who successfully brought Menopause The Musical® to every major market in the United States. It opened with a sold-out premiere run in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. in fall 2010, where it was named "Best Musical" by the Broward-Palm Beach New Times. The musical has delighted sold out audiences in cities across the U.S. including Tampa; Fort Worth, Texas; Richardson, Texas; Atlanta; Huntsville; Providence; and Philadelphia. The production is currently on a 65-city tour in Australia.
Hailed as "Engaging, hilarious, and touching!" by Variety, Motherhood the Musical® is written by author and songwriter Sue Fabisch. The 20-song musical includes the hilarious Billboard Top 10 comedy hit song, "The Kids Are Finally Asleep;" the rousing call-to-shoppers, "Costco Queen;" the ode to formerly firm breasts, "How Great They Were;" and the tender ballad, "I'm Danny's Mom." Motherhood the Musical® shares the humorous and loving journey of Amy, a soon-to-be first-time mom; Barb, an over-worked, underpaid, stressed-out mother of five; Brooke, a lawyer who works too much and barely sees her kids; and Tasha, a single mom struggling to balance work, family and a divorce. The four-member company is directed and choreographed by Broadway's Lisa Shriver and award-winner Johnny Rodgers supplies music direction and supervision, arrangements and orchestrations.
