Lyric Opera of Chicago 2011/12 Season to be Rebroadcast by WFMT Radio Network, 5/12-6/30

Beginning on Saturday, May 12, and continuing every Saturday through June 30, The Matthew Bucksbaum Family Lyric Opera Broadcasts of the 2011/12 Lyric Opera of Chicago season will be rebroadcast internationally by The WFMT Radio Network and heard locally on 98.7WFMT. 

George Preston, afternoon drive-time host on 98.7WFMT, Chicago’s classical radio station, and Roger Pines, dramaturg of Lyric Opera of Chicago, are host and commentator respectively. 

The broadcasts are on the following Saturdays: 

The Tales of Hoffmann /Offenbach (in French)                May 12 – 3 hrs 45 min 
Lucia di Lammermoor/Donizetti (in Italian)                        May 19 – 3 hrs 
Boris Godunov /Mussorgsky (in Russian)                          May 26 – 3 hrs 
The Magic Flute /Mozart (in German)                                June 2 – 3 hrs 25 min 
Ariadne auf Naxos /R. Strauss (in German)                        June 9 – 3 hrs 
Show Boat /Kern (in English)                                        June 16 – 3 hrs 30 min 
Rinaldo /Handel (in Italian)                                          June 23 – 3 hrs 40 min 
Aida/Verdi (in Italian)                                                   June 30 – 4 hrs 
            
Chicago-area broadcasts on 98.7WFMT begin at 12:00 p.m/noon CDT, except for Lucia di Lammermoor, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. CDT.Check local listings for exact times and dates outside the Chicago area. The broadcasts can also be heard anywhere in the world onwww.wfmt.com
