Lineup Announced for The LIVINGroom's November Performances at Stage 773
The LIVINGroom announces the lineup and details for the fourth installment of its 2017 solo performance season at Stage 773. Performers Hal Baum, Lara Garay, Dakota Hughes, Samantha Hurwitz, Aaron Lockman, Freddy May, Abigail Phelps, Abi Samra, Winter Sherrod, Tyler Anthony Smith, David Stobbe, andLauren Vogel take the stage in the Cabaret Theater at Stage 773 on Sundays, November 5, 12, and 19 in The LIVINGroom: DADA SOLO, directed by Stephanie Shaw.
In November, The LIVINGroom stages an evening of Dada. What is Dada? Art history tells us that Dada is an early twentieth century avant-garde movement that lashed out against conformity, corruption, and convention through subversive art, literature, and performance. But the ensemble and director devising The LIVINGroom: DADA SOLO are saying that once you try to define Dada, you've lost the game. It defies definition. It will kick you in the behind. It is an inarticulate howl.Find out what happens when Dada and solo performance collide.
The LIVINGroom: DADA SOLO is directed by Stephanie Shaw, Associate Professor of Instruction at Columbia College, where she teaches solo performance, acting, musical theatre, and directing. She has been a member of Chicago's Neo-Futurists, and has written and performed in works at numerous Chicago-area theatres, including Apple Tree, the Body Politic, Wisdom Bridge, Oak Park Festival Theatre, Stage Left, Lifeline, the National Jewish Theater, the Royal George, and the Curious Theater Branch.
The LIVINGroom: DADA SOLO runs at 7:00 pm on Sundays, November 5, 12, and 19 at Stage 773, located at 1225 W. Belmont, Chicago. Tickets are $10, $7 for students with valid ID, and are available at the box office and at http://stage773.com, or 773-327-5252.
About The LIVINGroom The LIVINGroom is a solo performance series that brings together artists and directors who devise, stage, and perform autobiographical stories based on a theme. Staged in the Cabaret Theater at Stage 773, performances blend spoken word, movement, theatre, spectacle, music, and any other device that bridges the personal and the universal.
