League of Chicago Theatres Adds Dates to Summer Showcase Series

By:

The League of Chicago Theatres adds two new dates to its Summer Showcase series. Members of Kokandy Productions and Sideshow Theatre will present live performances on Friday, August 14 at noon and The Hypocrites and Barrel of Monkeys will perform on Friday, August 28 at noon. All performances will take place inside the historic Water Works building at 163 E. Pearson Ave. The Summer Showcase is a free 45-minute lunchtime event and is ideal for those who work and live near North Michigan Ave, as well as visitors shopping along the Magnificent Mile.

The August 14 showcase will include a performance from Loving Repeating by Kokandy Productions and Sideshow Theatre's Stupid F**king Bird. On August 28, The Hypocrites will perform a selection from American Idiot and Barrel of Monkeys will perform student-written stories. Both lunchtime showcases will be hosted by novelty folk duo Gretchen & Regina and will also feature interviews with the artists and a performance from a musician from the Old Town School of Folk Music.

The Summer Showcase is free and open to the public. No reservations are required.

Hot Tix, a program of the League of Chicago Theatres, offers half-price theatre tickets for the current week's performances as well as future dates. During the Summer Showcase on June 26, half-price tickets to more than 200 Chicago area theatres will be on sale at the Water Works building, 163 E. Pearson. Other Hot Tix locations include 72 E. Randolph and Block Thirty Seven, 108 N. State. Hot Tix half-price tickets are also available for purchase online at HotTix.org.
