Acclaimed vocalist, recording artist and actress Karen Mason heads into Chicago to celebrate Valentine's Day with her new one woman show Setting New Standards before heading to Broadway to star as the Queen of Hearts in Frank Wildhorn's (Jekyll & Hyde) new musical Wonderland. With her Broadway stage performances, TV appearances, CD recordings and live concerts, Karen "has few peers when it comes to ripping the roof off with her amazing voice that knows no bounds" (TheaterScene.net), which her performances always reaffirm. The multi-MAC and Backstage Magazine Bistro Award winner, most recent CD release, Right Here/Right Now, also received a MAC Award for Album of the Year.

Her new show Setting New Standards is a showcase for Karen's dynamic vocals and musical versatility, featuring many new songs, as well as songs from her new upcoming Broadway musical. Mason will be accompanied by her long-time musical director and pianist Christopher Denny.

Mason will be appearing at Davenport's, 1383 N Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago, the city's premier venue for intimate, live performances, will take place Wednesday, February 9 - Monday, February 14. Show times are at 8pm 7pm for the Sunday, February 13th performance). There is a $35 cover charge/2 drink minimum. Mason played Velma Von Tussle in the Tony Award-winning Broadway smash hit Hairspray and originated the role of Tanya in Mamma Mia!, for which she was awarded a 2002 Drama Desk nomination as Best Actress. Karen also replaced Glenn Close as Norma Desmond in the Andrew Lloyd Weber musical Sunset Boulevard and won the Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance in And The World Goes Round.
