Independent Filmmaker Will Adams Debuts New Project at Annual Black Harvest Film Festival

By:

Chicago native and Columbia College Chicago alum Will Adams' latest film, "A 3rd First," will premiere Aug. 6 during the 22nd Annual Black Harvest Film Festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center of the Art Institute of Chicago. "A 3rd First," a comedy film short, tells the story of an uncomfortable first date that takes an unexpected turn. It was written and directed by Adams and stars local actors, Conchedia De Pratto and Lawrence E. Johnson Jr.

With two completed feature-length films, this premiere marks Adams' seventh film project. Adams grew up on Chicago's south side and discovered his love for telling stories through video as a television production student at Hirsch Metropolitan High School. As a graduate of the Chicago Public Schools and arts education leader Columbia College Chicago, his passion is bringing multifaceted Chicago stories to the screen. His prior projects have secured week-long runs at ShowPlace ICON Theatre and Studio Movie Grill. The work of Will Adams has also screened at the Englewood International Film Festival and Bronzeville Film Festival.

"A 3rd First" debuts at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 6, during the Black Harvest Film Festival at the Gene Siskel Film Center (164 N. State St., Chicago). Adams will join other Black Harvest Film Festival filmmakers for an artist Q & A following the movie. The film will also screen during the festival at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19, and 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20.
