Griffin Theatre's POCATELLO Begins Tonight
Griffin Theatre Company is pleased to launch its 2015-16 season with the Midwest premiere of Samuel D. Hunter's heartbreaking comedy POCATELLO, directed by ensemble member Jonathan Berry (Punk Rock, Balm in Gilead), playing tonight, November 7 - December 13, 2015 at Signal Ensemble Theatre, 1802 W. Berenice Ave. in Chicago.
Single tickets go on sale Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at www.griffintheatre.com or by calling (866) 811-4111. Season subscriptions are currently available. The press opening is Sunday, November 15, 2015 at 7 pm.
POCATELLO will feature Sandy Elias, Sam Guinan-Nyhart, Bob Kruse, Allie Long, Nina O'Keefe, Morgan Maher, Michael McKeough, Mechelle Moe, Becca Savoir and Lynda Shadrake.
Home doesn't feel like home anymore for Eddie, an Italian chain restaurant manager who is losing connections with his co-workers and his family. Set in the harsh backdrop of Pocatello, Idaho - a small, unexceptional American city - Samuel D. Hunter's heartbreaking comedy is a cry and the struggle we face to create an authentic experience - to forge true community - in a place that is being transformed into the endless artificiality of Walmarts, Applebees and strip malls.
POCATELLO had its world premiere in 2014 at Playwrights Horizons in New York. It was the recipient of an Edgerton Foundation New American Plays award and playwright Samuel D. Hunter is a recipient of a MacArthur Genius Award.
The production team for POCATELLO includes: Joe Schermoly (scenic design), Carolyn Sullivan (costume designer), Sarah Hughey (lighting design), Christian Gero (sound design), Majel Cuza (production manager) and Jon Ravenscroft (stage manager).
