Gorilla Tango Theatre Announces ONCE UPON A ROM COM: THE BILL PULLMAN STORY, 9/5-10/31

By:

ONCE UPON A ROM COM: THE Bill Pullman STORY performs Wednesdays at 7:30pm, September 5 – October 31, 2012 at Gorilla Tango Theatre (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL 60647). Tickets are $15; to purchase tickets visit www.gorillatango.com or call 773-598-4549

This "fun, original, and endearing script," written by recent Chicago transplant, Brian Work, and directed by Chicago native, NeAl Fischer, is sure to educate those who only know Bill Pullman as "the guy who got left at the end of Sleepless In Seattle."

Director NeAl Fischer has this to say: "What drew me to this project was the quick witted, funny script that Brian wrote. I know that the audience will have a good time based on the fact that it's a good love story at its core. What Brian has managed to do is combine big laughs, with a few moments that tug the heart strings."

The fact that two of the lead characters are known actors was a challenge for the director, "I needed to find someone who could embody their mannerisms and voice. While it wasn't required of them, I couldn't have asked for someone better than Jeremy Eden as Jeff Goldblum. He was born to do this part. He has the accent down so much in fact, that during our runs he improvs in the voice, and never gets out of character."

The production has reached out to both Mr. Goldblum's and Mr. Pullman's representation to invite them to the performance. Using an intense network of Facebook friends and other social media, they have created a grassroots, email campaign to encourage the actors to whom the pays homage to come to Chicago. In other words, quoth Neal, "Telling everyone we know to annoyingly e-mail their people and demand they come." No comment has yet been issued from either actor's representation, but the cast and crew remain hopeful.

MORE ABOUT THE Writer and Director:
NeAl Fischer (Director) is an accomplished young filmmaker who has made a name for himself as "one to watch" among the festival circuit. Neal produced the award-winning documentary "10 Mountains 10 Years," which was narrated by Academy Award Nominee Anne Hathaway and featured music by Grammy Award Winning Artist Bruce Springsteen. Despite being a movie fanatic, Neal's other passion is the wonderful world of theatre. For the past four years Neal has written/directed over a dozen children's shows as the Drama Director at South Loop Elementary School. He recently wrote a burlesque version of Back To The Future for Gorilla Tango Theatre, and is currently in pre-production on a feature film entitled Blood Kin with his business partners Del Harvey, and Joe Caballero, of Rough Cut Films. Thankful of the opportunity to be working with a great team at Gorilla Tango Theatre, Neal is most excited to be working with actors that don't have curfews.

Brian Work (Playwright) is an Atlanta transplant that moved to Chicago last year and is loving every second of it. He is incredibly excited to see his play come to life on the stage, and loves that he's able to pay homage to his favorite movie genre and two of his favorite actors. Brian is currently in post-production on his first feature film, "Uncommon Law," a romantic comedy which he wrote, directed, and produced with his Production Company, Cold Silver Films. He's also an actor and comedian, and can be seen performing around Chicago with his improv group, The High Ceilings. Brian wants to give a huge, heartfelt thanks to everyone involved for all of their hard work! Pullman/Goldblum 2012!
