Black Button Eyes Productions presents GOBLIN MARKET by Polly Pen and Peggy Harmon, music by Polly Pen, adapted from the poem by Christina Rossetti, at the Pentagon Theatre at Collaboraction, 1579 N Milwaukee, 3rd floor, now through October 31, 2015. "Goblin Market," directed by Ed Rutherford with music direction by Jeff Bouthiette, began previews October 2; press opening was October 3; show runs through October 31. Black Button Eyes will host author and composer Polly Pen at tonight's (October 8th) performance, followed by a talkback and reception. Ms. Pen has deep Chicago roots; she grew up in downtown Chicago and starred here in regional productions of OLIVER! and OKLAHOMA! She made an appearance at the Lyric Opera and, notably, starred in the original production of GREASE (as Sandy).

Pen wrote the book, music and lyrics for GOBLIN MARKET. She is an Obie Award winner for the score of Bed and Sofa, (NYC premiere Vineyard Theatre / London premiere Finborough Theatre). Other works include Goblin Market, (Vineyard Theatre), The Night Governess (McCarter Theatre), Arlington (Magic Theatre, Vineyard Theatre), Her Lightness (Sarasota Opera), The Dumb Cake (a radio musical for NPR), Embarrassments (Wilma Theater) and Christina Alberta's Father (Vineyard Theatre). Polly is the recipient of numerous Drama Desk nominations, several NEA grants and has been a National Theatre Artist-in-Residence at McCarter Theatre. She received the Dramatist Guild's 2009 Flora Roberts Award for a distinguished body of work. Polly is an adjunct professor at NYU's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.
