Duplicity Ensemble's inaugural season is coming to a close with Anne Walaszek's Lamp Oil at the 2014 Chicago Fringe Festival, today, August 28-September 6.

Duplicity Ensemble burst on to the scene earlier this year with it's critically acclaimed production of Anne Walaszek's Folk Bound, a heartwarming tale of a young woman's journey home. Then, an invitation to participate in the first Chicago Musical Theatre Festival produced by Underscore Theatre led to the devising of I Have Been to the Wild Wood, a play that explores what we are truly afraid of. Now, Duplicity Ensemble plumbs the depths of anxiety and loneliness with its submission to the 2014 Chicago Fringe Festival, Anne Walaszek's Lamp Oil:

After tragedy strikes a ship on the open seas, a sailor is left alone to navigate home. At first, he finds hope in thinking of his loved one waiting for him, but as the months become years, the lines between memory and day dream begin to blur. At times absurdly funny and strangely haunting, Lamp Oil questions what it means to truly be alone.

Duplicity Ensemble was founded by four Chicago-based artists on October 11, 2013. Pamela Maurer serves as the resident composer, Annaleah Tubbin as the choreographer, Anne Walaszek as the playwright, and Nathan Wonder as the Artistic Director.

Duplicity Ensemble is a theatre company dedicated to producing new plays that explore the lies we tell ourselves and the challenges we face that come from within. "There's much talent on display here from this brand new company...it's likely we'll see good things from them all in the coming years." - Chicago Theatre Beat Starring Gabriel Franken and Chelsea Angeletti: Gabriel Franken would like to honor this play with his bio. He's not sure how to do that. Maybe this will work. Chelsea Angeletti is thrilled to be returning to Duplicity Ensemble, where she was last seen playing Lucy in Folk Bound. Past credits also include a guest appearance in the web series, The Dreamers, and last summer's performance of Alice with Nothing Without A Company. Chelsea is a graduate of The Theatre School at DePaul University, and originally hails from rural Oregon.
