Don't Act Like A Girl is a raucous cabaret with a live three person band, queer teen angst, and plenty of confetti. This one-man show flashes back to the life of an awkward young loner who is misdiagnosed, over prescribed and misunderstood until a fatal trip to fat camp ultimately changes his life. Inspired by David Sedaris, "Elaine Stritch at Liberty" and Chaka Khan, Don't Act Like A Girl uses monologues and songs to tell true stories of special education, musical theatre, 9/11 and teenage drag queens.

Written and performed by Wes Perry. Directed by Annoyance veteran Tim Paul, star of the solo shows No Fats No Femmes and Tim Paul's Retarded, with musical direction by Charles Worth.

Don't Act Like A Girl opens January 15 at The Annoyance and runs every Sunday at 9:30 through February 12. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the company’s website, theannoyance.com or by calling the box office: 773-561-HONK (4665). The Annoyance is located at 4830 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL, 60640

Following the opening night performance, there will be a dance party in the theatre hosted by TEEN WITCH; a local DJ best known for the monthly dance party CULT at Berlin Nightclub. The party will also include special performances by drag queens and queer comedians.

There is a preview performance on Sunday January 8 at 9:30, tickets are $7.
