Chicago Slam Works presents a whole new kind of slam with "LitMash" on the first Monday of the month at the Haymarket Pub and Brewery, 737 W. Randolph Street. "LitMash" combines the art forms of poetry, comedy, storytelling, music and creative non-fiction into one action-packed evening. The next "LitMash" is Monday, February 3 at 8 p.m. The January performance was cancelled due to extreme weather so the February show boasts an expanded line up of performers. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at the door at 7:30 p.m. For more information visit www.ChicagoSlamWorks.com.

"We are building on the success of perhaps the largest literary movement of the last century, the slam," said executive director J.W. Basillo. "Poetry slam has grown from a raucous bar show in Chicago to a sweeping movement throughout the world. Recently story and comedy slams have popped up led by organizations such as 'The Moth'. With 'LitMash' we are looking to create one show that combines these scenes to form a highly entertaining curated slam unlike any other."

The February 3, 2014 "LitMash" features Dan Sully (poetry), Melissa DuPrey (comedy), Adrienne Gunn (comedy), David Boyle (storytelling), Bryant Cross (poetry), and Raych Jackson (poetry). Each performer is given six minutes to impress the audience and judges. The judges are 5 audience members chosen at random. The winner of the evening receives a cash award as well as boasting rights.
