Breakups! Drinking! Penguins! New Gorilla Tango Series to Open with Choose-Your-Own-Drinking-Adventure Show

By:

Gorilla Tango Originals presents "Party On, Chicago!: The Choose-Your-Own-Drinking-Adventure", which performs Thursdays at 9:30pm, March 2-April 20, 2017, at Gorilla Tango Theatre (1919 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Chicago IL 60647). Tickets are $20; visit www.gorillatango.com or call 773-598-4549 for tickets and more information.

"Party On, Chicago!: The Choose-Your-Own-Drinking-Adventure" takes the audience through one crazy night in the windy city. Morgan and his best friend Katie are both in post-breakup funks, more content to ride the sofa and blog than to go and experience life. However, Morgan's roommate Jason is having none of that! What kind of night will they have? That's completely up to the audience. It is a choose-your-own-adventure, after all! Will this gang have the night of their lives or will they come home early? And, when confronted with choices of their own will you let them make the right call? "Party On, Chicago!: The Choose-Your-Own-Drinking-Adventure" is the comedy ride you have been looking for: filled with drinking games and hilarious twist and turns throughout the evening...I mean, a penguin? Say wha'?!?

"Party On, Chicago!..." is unusual in the landscape of Chicago drinking-themed shows. Says writer Joseph White, "While there are plenty of drinking shows out there, many of them are sketch. This is a complete show with a plot, heart, and tons of fantastic, over-the-top humor - it's like a mash-up of 'How I Met Your Mother' meets 'The Hangover'." He continues, "The idea of audience interaction is often seen in improv, but this is a full script. All the scenes are well-rehearsed, memorized scenes - but the audience decides how the story unfolds."

Executive Producer Ellen Domonkos White (former Managing Director of New Millennium Theater Company) elaborates, "This hour-long show has a 92 page script and a visual map of scenes (typical hour-long show is 60 or less pages) - each night will be completely different. Chicagoans and tourists alike will also really connect with the specific Chicago locations and Chicago drinking adventures - they'll leave wanting to go create their own epic evening in Chicago or-better yet-come back and see the scene they didn't choose." She goes onto say, "This is a new look at the way we experience theatre. Immersive theatre has increasingly developed in the theatre world. This show takes that feeling of immersive-ness without taking people so far outside of their comfort zone that they feel self-conscious or scared. It is a nice balance of interaction and still sitting back and enjoying the show. It also really plays into the style of sitcom humor and formatting that our society enjoys: fast and funny ensemble piece."

Gorilla Tango Theatre (GTT) exists to provide entertainment people actually want to see. GTT believes that every theatre person is a business person; it seeks to educate, foster, and provide resources to theatre practitioners so that each theatre production is treated as an entrepreneurial venture. GTT is conveniently located at the intersection of Western and Milwaukee in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood and is easily accessible by public transportation (just steps away from the Western Blue Line stop and the #49 Western, #73 Armitage and #56 Milwaukee buses). Street parking is also readily available. GTT offers a variety of affordable beer and wine for purchase. Consult the website for show rating information, tickets, and details.
