Big Noise Theatre Announces Auditions for Butterflies Are Free 11/1

Big Noise Theatre Company, a division of Winnetka Theatre, announces auditions for Butterflies Are Free Tuesday, November 1 between 7pm and 9pm. Callbacks, if needed, are Thursday, November 3, 2011. If unable to attend audition on November 1st, call for appointment. Auditions are at Winnetka Community House, 680 Lincoln Ave, Winnetka, IL.

Director Catherine Davis is seeking the following:

1 man--20s (Don) blind, has had a conservative upbringing, has to sing and play the guitar a bit.

1 woman-early 20s (Jill) delicate and naive, free-spirited, worldly without being worldly-wise.

1 man--mid 20s-mid 30s (Ralph) artistic and arrogant

1 woman--50s (Mrs. Baker) conservative, attractive, uptight, well-dressed, from Scarsdale, NY

*The roles of Don and Jill spend some amount of time dressed only in underwear.

This romantic comedy will perform at Prairie Lakes Theater, Des Plaines running from January 13 to February 5, 2011. Audition will consist of cold reading from script, bring headshot/resume. No pay. Butterflies Are Free was first performed in 1969 and won one Tony and was nominated for two more, among other awards. The 1972 film adaptation won an Oscar and two more nominations.

Big Noise Theatre Company's productions continue to be known for bringing Downtown quality to the suburbs at reasonable rates. Big Noise strives to produce high-quality shows that stretch the creative talents of their actors and staff as well as surpass the expectations of their audience.
