BUZZED BROADWAY Returns to Laugh Out Loud Theater

Laugh Out Loud Theater - Chicago, is proud to present "Buzzed Broadway," an improvised musical that encourages audiences to drink alongside soon-­to-­be Broadway stars.

After successful runs at MCL Chicago, iO Theater, and The Playground Theater, the cast of Buzzed Broadway is back at Laugh Out Loud Theater's brand new venue in Chicago!

Each week, Buzzed Broadway improvises a never-before-seen Broadway musical: No scripts, no pre-planning, no kidding. Each performance will showcase the mastery of Broadway styles including musicals from the Golden Age ("Oklahoma" and "Guys and Dolls") to Stephen Sondheim ("Into the Woods" and "Company") to today's shows and more. An optional drinking game keeps the audience on their toes by utilizing the classic tropes of musical theater. Duet? Take a sip! Kick Line? Bottoms up!

This run, every week will feature a different Chicago musical theater star to try their hand at musical improv for the first time. They have the vocal chops, but the cast of Buzzed Broadway will find out if they have what it takes to sing off-the-cuff. Guests include Chicago actor Emily Berman and director Jon Martinez.

Buzzed Broadway performs all over the country and has been featured in the New York Musical Improv Festival, the West Coast Musical Improv Festival, the Seattle Festival of Improvisational Theater, the Crossroads Comedy Festival, the Chicago Improv Festival, and the Chicago Musical Improv Festival.

"The seasoned ensemble, composed of Second City, iO, and Annoyance students and vets, will keep you highly entertained," said producer Holly Lambert.

The production will run at Laugh Out Loud - Chicago, 3851 N. Lincoln Ave (near the Irving Park Brown Line stop), April 6 through April 27. The official press performance is scheduled for Thursday, April 6, 2016 at 8 p.m.

"Buzzed Broadway" runs Thursdays at 8 p.m. Estimated running time is 60 minutes with a five minute intermission. "Buzzed Broadway" is directed by Amber Linde, musical direction by Dave Redick, and a cast featuring Sydney Clinton, Gary Fields, Erin Island, Ethan Krupp, Holly Lambert, Mike Movido, Kerri Morrison, Caroline Nash, and Frankie Weschler. The show is produced by Buzzed Broadway Productions LLC.

Tickets for the production are $15 general admission. $7 for students with ID. Tickets are available via cash or credit at the door or online at laughoutloudtheater.com/chicago.
