Junior Appalachian Music Program at University of North Carolina School of the Arts

The Junior Appalachian Music Program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts will begin on February 17, providing young musicians aged 11-17 with the opportunity to explore traditional Appalachian music. The program includes group instruction on instruments such as fiddle, banjo, and guitar, complemented by old-time dance classes that embrace local culture and history. Led by experienced instructors including Rex McGee, Ben Masterson, and Jessie McGee, the program aims to foster community and musical skills while preserving the region’s rich musical heritage.
