Piedmont Players Host 50th Anniversary Gala Tonight

Piedmont Players Theatre (PPT) presents The 2nd Annual 50th Anniversary Gala & Legendary After Party tonight, May 31, 2013. Reception begins 6:30pm. Gala begins 7:30pm. After Party begins 9pm.

The Gala is a celebration of the Arts and serves a critical need for the theatre company as its priMary Annual fundraiser. Gary Thornburg and Kent Bernhardt will return as everyone's favorite masters of ceremonies for a night full of performances from some of your favorite Norvell and Meroney casts of the past season, a spectacular silent auction, and a sneak preview of the upcoming season!

If you happened to miss any of this year's blockbuster sold-out shows like The Color Purple and Monty Python's Spamalot, the evening presents a second chance to catch the highlights. Once the show ends, stick around for the best party of the year...The Legendary After-Party, with food, wine, and dancing. Get out your cocktail attire and come celebrate an evening of arts and entertainment while helping to insure the future of a Salisbury institution.

Piedmont Players is a non-profit theatre organization operating two theatrical spaces, the historic Meroney Theater and the newly built, all-youth, Norvell Theater. The Meroney produces 5 mainstage productions each season from Tony Award Winning Broadway hits to the classics. The Norvell houses educational youth programs, 16 week long summer theatre camps and 5 productions per season. With theatre programs being cut from many area schools, the Norvell has quickly become a safe place for Rowan County youth to express their creative side and learn about the magic of theatre. Piedmont Players Theatre has been a staple in the Salisbury Community for more than 50 year for one reason...because the Salisbury Community makes it happen! Without the generous support of donors, season ticket holders, producing partners and the annual fundraising Gala, PPT could not exist. This season, the PPT Board of Governors conducted a study to determine what the price of a single Meroney Theater ticket would be if the organization was dependent on ticket revenues alone. The answer...$58 PER TICKET! This season a ticket to any show was only $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. The ONLY way PPT is able to offer an affordable theatre experience to all area residents is the generous support of the community and the funds generated from the annual Gala.
