Collaborative Arts Announces Auditions For Incorruptible Aug 29

By: Aug. 24, 2010

Collaborative Arts will hold auditions for Incorruptible, by Michael Hollinger, on Sunday, August 29 at 6pm at the Charlotte School of Ballet, 627 S. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte (in the shopping center at the corner of Providence and Sharon Amity roads).

About Incorruptible

When their Saint becomes a victim of identity theft, the monks of Priseaux, France are in danger of losing much more than the robes off their backs. Add to that: the fires, the flood, the piles of corpses, the tragic loss of the last edible donkey - and it is indeed the darkest time of the dark ages.

All they can hope for is a miracle. But these days, miracles don't come cheap; and it takes a one-eyed con man, a singing prostitute, a mercenary granny, a nun from hell and the Pope himself to help them learn the true price.

A thoroughly modern medieval comedy.

Directed by Peter Smeal.

Roles available for:

BROTHER OLF, (Male, Age 30 to 50) A novice. Your typical gentle giant. The kind of person who has a tendency to inadvertently loom. A little slow but more innocent than ignorant.

PEASANT WOMAN, (Female, Age 45 to 60). Quick witted, savvy and sharp tongued. A stubborn and cut-throat survivor who isn't above cheating a saint or pimping her own daughter to save a penny. Mild to moderate physical comedy required.

JACK, (Male, Age 25 to 45) A one-eyed minstrel. Shrewd opportunist who is not necessarily as heartless as he lets on. An accomplished showman with a healthy libido and a talent for baking. Some singing required. Juggling, tumbling, ability to play and instrument and other related minstrel/vaudeville type skills highly desired.

MARIE, (Female, Age 25 to 40) Jack's partner - in all senses of the word. Too old to be innocent but too young to be bitter. Romantic but practical. Well traveled but still unspoiled. Some singing and dancing required. Other skills to complement Jack desired.

AGATHA, (Female, Age 50 to 70) Abbess of Bernay, a nearby convent. No tact, no humility, no compassion. Ability to spit brimstone highly desired.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Sides provided.

Auditionees interested in Jack or Marie may prepare one verse and chorus (or, no more than one minute) of a song - a capella

Rehearsals will take place in October. Performances are from November 4th - November 14th in the Duke Energy Theatre at Spirit Square.

If you have questions, please contact Peter Smeal, Director, at crackula_ptr@hotmail.com. Actors who are unable to attend the August 29 audition should contact Peter as soon as possible.
