Children's Theatre of Charlotte to Open MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET, 11/22

By:

Celebrate the holidays at "Miracle on 34th Street" at Children's Theatre of Charlotte, Nov. 22-Dec. 22, a faithful adaptation of the classic 1947 film.

"I love Miracle on 34th Street because it grapples with these big questions and reinforces my belief and faith in Kris Kringle, the holiday spirit and the idea that one man can make a difference," director Adam Burke said.

When a white-bearded gentleman claiming to be THE real Santa Claus emerges in New York City, he spreads a wave of love throughout the city, fosters camaraderie between rival department stores Macy's and Gimbels, and convinces a single mother, her skeptical young daughter and the entire state of New York that Santa Claus is no myth.

The whole family will love this funny, poignant take on the cherished story.

"In an increasingly divided world, the holiday season brings about a change that I wish could extend all year long," Burke said. "When I learned I was going to be able to contribute to this spirit by directing 'Miracle on 34th Street,' I was absolutely tickled!"

Veteran Charlotte actor Dennis Delamar stars as Kris Kringle. Susan Sanford (Doris Walker), Ron McClelland (Fred Gayley) and Isaac Gay (recently on stage at CTC as the title character in "Tarzan: The Stage Musical") also star.

The show is recommended for anyone over the age of 6. For more information, or to order tickets, visit ctcharlotte.org or call the Customer Sales and Service Center (10-5 M-F): 704-973-2828.

Children's Theatre of Charlotte is a national leader among theatres for young audiences, serving more than 300,000 young people and families annually with professional productions and innovative education initiatives.

Children's Theatre of Charlotte is supported, in part, with an Operating Grant from the Arts & Science Council, Charlotte-Mecklenburg, Inc. and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
